How to swap crypto without connecting your wallet

There are two common ways to swap crypto. On a decentralised exchange you connect your wallet and sign transactions. With a deposit-address swap you just send coins to an address and receive the payout at an address you choose. SwapRocket uses the second method, and the choice affects your security, privacy and fees.

How a deposit-address swap works

  1. Pick what you're sending and what you want, including the network for each, and compare the live quotes.
  2. Paste the address you want paid to.
  3. The provider gives you a one-time deposit address. Send the exact amount from any wallet or exchange.
  4. Once your deposit confirms, the provider sends the payout to your address.

Privacy

Connecting a wallet shows a site your whole address, including its balance and history on that network. A deposit-address swap only shows the provider the deposit you send and the address it pays to. Crypto-to-crypto swaps on SwapRocket don't need an account or KYC. For more on privacy, see how to swap crypto anonymously.

Getting it right

  • Send exactly the coin and network shown. USDT on TRON and USDT on Ethereum aren't interchangeable.
  • Check that the payout address belongs to the right network for the coin you want.
  • If you've used DEXs before, review and revoke any old token approvals you no longer need.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to connect a wallet to use SwapRocket?

No. You paste the address you want paid to, send your deposit from any wallet or exchange, and the provider pays out. Your wallet is never connected to the site and never signs a message or approval for it.

What is a token approval and why does it matter?

When you swap a token on a decentralised exchange, you usually first give its smart contract permission to spend that token. These approvals are often unlimited by default and stay in place until you revoke them. If the contract is malicious or gets hacked, the funds you approved are at risk.

Is a deposit-address swap risk-free?

No. Between your deposit and the payout, the provider holds your funds, so you're relying on it to complete the swap or refund you. Send the exact coin on the exact network shown, and keep your order page until the payout arrives.

How do I check approvals I've already granted?

Approval checkers such as Etherscan's Token Approvals page or Revoke.cash list the contracts allowed to spend your tokens and let you revoke them. Revoking costs a small network fee.
