How to Buy Kaspa (KAS)

Kaspa is a proof-of-work currency that orders blocks in a graph (a blockDAG) instead of a single chain, so it can create blocks very frequently without discarding the ones that arrive at the same time.

What Kaspa is

In Bitcoin, when two miners find a block at nearly the same moment, only one survives and the other becomes an orphan. That is one reason Bitcoin keeps its blocks roughly ten minutes apart. Kaspa takes a different route: blocks can reference several earlier blocks, forming a directed acyclic graph, and the GHOSTDAG protocol then works out a consistent order for all of them. Parallel blocks are kept instead of thrown away, which is what lets the network run at a much higher block rate.

GHOSTDAG comes from academic work by Yonatan Sompolinsky, Shai Wyborski and Aviv Zohar, published as the PHANTOM and GHOSTDAG papers. Kaspa is the production implementation of that research. The project upgraded to ten blocks per second in its Crescendo hard fork, and its developers publish the node software openly.

Kaspa launched in November 2021 without a pre-mine or token pre-sale; coins are issued only through mining, with a supply schedule that falls smoothly over time. Mining uses kHeavyHash, a hashing algorithm chosen by the project, and today is dominated by dedicated hardware.

For a buyer, KAS works like a native coin on its own network: you need a Kaspa wallet, and deposits confirm quickly because blocks are so frequent. Kaspa's developers are working on programmability features, but their scope and timing are UNKNOWN until they reach mainnet.

How to buy KAS step by step

  1. 1

Set up a wallet that can receive KAS

Use a Kaspa wallet. Mainnet addresses start with "kaspa:". No memo or tag is needed. SwapRocket never holds your coins: they go straight to the address you enter.

  2. 2

Pick the coin you will swap from

Card and bank payments are temporarily offline, so you buy by swapping crypto you already hold, such as BTC or USDT. SwapRocket supports 1,000+ assets.

  3. 3

Check the network and paste your KAS address

KAS is delivered on the Kaspa mainnet. It is not an ERC-20 token, so an Ethereum address will not work.

  4. 4

Compare live quotes and send your deposit

The swap box compares live rates from several exchange partners, with zero added fees from SwapRocket. Send the exact deposit amount to the one-time address shown.

  5. 5

    Receive your KAS

Most swaps complete in under 10 minutes, depending on network confirmations. If anything looks stuck, 24/7 live support can check the order with you.

Häufig gestellte Fragen

Why can Kaspa produce blocks so much faster than Bitcoin?

Its GHOSTDAG protocol keeps blocks that are mined in parallel and orders them in a graph, instead of discarding all but one. This removes the main reason chain-based networks keep blocks far apart.

Was Kaspa pre-mined?

No. Kaspa launched in November 2021 with no pre-mine or pre-sale; new coins come only from mining.

Can I buy KAS with a card on SwapRocket?

Not right now. Card and bank payments are temporarily offline, so you buy KAS by swapping another cryptocurrency, such as BTC or USDT.

Do I need an account to buy KAS?

No. Crypto-to-crypto swaps need no account and no KYC from SwapRocket; you only enter the address that will receive your KAS.

What fees does SwapRocket charge?

SwapRocket adds zero fees. The rate you see comes from the exchange partner, and the blockchain network charges its own transaction fee.

How long does a KAS swap take?

Most swaps complete in under 10 minutes, depending on how quickly the networks involved confirm the deposit.
