About Verge (XVG)
Privacy coin
Verge (XVG) is a privacy-focused cryptocurrency that conceals transaction details — sender, receiver, and amount — so on-chain activity can't be easily traced. It's built for users who treat financial privacy as a core feature rather than an afterthought.
How does XVG work?
XVG uses cryptographic techniques to obscure the link between transactions while still letting the network verify that funds are valid and not double-spent. The result is fungible, confidential digital cash that anyone can send peer-to-peer.
What is XVG used for?
People hold and spend XVG for private payments, censorship-resistant transfers, and protecting their financial footprint. Its supply and trading dynamics make it a long-standing favorite among privacy-conscious crypto users.

How a XVG swap works
Enter the amount you want to exchange, pick the asset on the other side, and SwapRocket queries every connected exchange partner at once. You choose an offer, paste the wallet address that should receive the funds, and send XVG to the deposit address shown. The partner executes the trade and pays out to your address — SwapRocket never holds your coins, and there is no account to create before you start.
Choosing a rate for XVG
Three offers are presented for every XVG exchange. The best rate returns the largest amount for the size you entered. The fastest route favours the partner with the shortest expected settlement time, which matters when the market is moving. The fixed rate locks the quoted amount for the duration of the order, so what you are shown is what arrives, at the cost of a slightly smaller payout. Floating offers can move with the market between deposit and settlement.
Networks and addresses for XVG
Verge settles on XVG. Always send from and to an address on that network: a deposit sent over a different chain cannot be recovered by the exchange partner. When an asset exists on several chains, pick the matching network in the widget before copying the deposit address, and send a small test amount first if you are unsure.

Most proof-of-work coins pick one mining algorithm and live with the hardware race that follows. Verge chose five. What does that look like in practice, and what else does the wallet do besides send coins?
Verge is an open-source proof-of-work cryptocurrency with 30-second blocks, five mining algorithms and a fully issued supply of about 16.5 billion XVG. Its official wallet also includes paid, encrypted wallet-to-wallet messaging.
Five ways to mine one chain
Verge's official repository lists five mining algorithms: scrypt, x17, Lyra2rev2, myr-groestl and blake2s. Each takes a turn securing the same chain, which means miners using quite different hardware can all take part.
The wallet lets a miner pick an algorithm with a single setting (for example algo=x17), and the docs say most pools for all five can be found on public pool lists. Anyone who prefers not to join a pool can mine alone by setting gen=1 in the wallet configuration.[1], [2]
Thirty-second blocks
The repository gives a block time of 30 seconds. That is far shorter than many older proof-of-work chains, so a payment is usually picked up into a block quickly.
A short block time is a design trade-off rather than a guarantee of finality. How many confirmations a receiver waits for is still their own choice, and exchanges set their own rules.[3]
A supply that is already complete
The README states a total supply of 16,521,951,238 XVG and marks it "Complete". It also publishes the block-reward table that got there: 200,000 coins per block for the first 14,000 blocks, then 100,000, 50,000 and 25,000, and after that halving to 12,500 and 6,250 coins per block across later block ranges.
For a holder, the practical point is simple: the issuance schedule is published in the project's own source, and the project itself describes the supply as finished.
Reading the table end to end tells a clear story. Rewards were very large in the earliest blocks, stepped down quickly, and then followed a halving pattern familiar from other proof-of-work coins. The README lists the schedule as data rather than as a promise, which makes it a useful anchor for anyone checking supply claims made elsewhere. Pairing a published schedule with a short block time and several algorithms is the Verge recipe: quick blocks, a broad base of possible miners, and a total that does not change. Present-day network figures such as hash rate and difficulty sit outside the README; the project links to public dashboards for those, and they move every day.[4], [5]
Messaging inside the wallet
Verge Secure Messaging (SMSG) is described in the repository as paid, encrypted wallet-to-wallet messaging. Two wallets share a chatkey and exchange messages without a separate chat app.
The documentation is deliberate about defaults. The desktop wallet, verge-qt, starts with SMSG on because it is normally used by people. The server daemon, verged, starts with SMSG off as a security measure for pools, exchanges and other infrastructure, and must be switched on with smsg=1.[6], [7]
Open source, community-built
Verge is published under the MIT licence, and the README shows the code targets modern C++ (C++17/20). Wallet builds are released through the project's GitHub releases page.
The project describes itself as 100% open source and asks contributors to send fixes as pull requests on GitHub. The README credits a long list of named contributors and the wider Verge community.[8], [9]
What remains unknown
Current hash rate per algorithm, active node count and how widely SMSG is used are UNKNOWN from the official sources used here; the project links to live dashboards for network figures.
What this means when you hold or move XVG
XVG runs on its own blockchain. Check that the receiving wallet or exchange supports native Verge, wait for the confirmations it asks for, and test with a small amount first.

Fees and pricing
Zero added fees: SwapRocket does not add a platform fee, a minimum or a withdrawal charge — the rate you see is the rate you get. Blockchain network fees are shown in full before you confirm, and the final amount you receive is quoted up front.
SwapRocket does not add a separate fee or markup to the provider quote. SwapRocket may earn a commission from the liquidity provider when a completed swap is referred through our platform. Provider spreads and applicable network costs are reflected in the quoted amount.
Network fees are set by the blockchain, not by SwapRocket. No account, no subscription and no withdrawal charge. Live support is available 24/7.
XVG swap FAQ
How do I swap Verge (XVG) instantly on SwapRocket?
Pick XVG as the asset you want to receive, choose what you're paying with, paste your wallet address, and confirm. SwapRocket hands your order to the provider whose quote pays out the most at that moment, and most swaps complete in under 10 minutes — no SwapRocket account needed.
Can I swap XVG with no KYC?
No SwapRocket account or identity documents are needed to start a crypto-to-crypto swap of XVG. The provider that executes the swap may still request identity verification or hold a swap for review under its own AML and sanctions policy, regardless of amount. Selling to a bank account goes through a regulated payment partner that verifies the payer; card purchases on SwapRocket are coming soon.
Is swapping Verge on SwapRocket non-custodial?
Yes. SwapRocket never holds your funds. The provider that executes the swap receives your deposit, holds it only for the duration of the swap, and sends XVG to the wallet address you provide.
Which network does XVG use here?
SwapRocket supports Verge on the XVG network. Always double-check that your receiving wallet supports this network before confirming.
What fees apply when I swap XVG?
SwapRocket adds no fee or markup to the provider's quote and may earn a commission from the provider on a completed swap. The provider's spread and any network cost it deducts on delivery are already reflected in the XVG amount shown; the network fee your own wallet charges to send the deposit is separate. Spreads vary by provider, pair and size, so compare the quoted receive amount.
