About eCash (XEC)
Layer-1 blockchain
eCash (XEC) is a Layer-1 blockchain — a base network with its own consensus, validators, and native coin (XEC) used to pay fees and secure the chain. Developers build applications directly on it, and XEC is the asset that powers the whole ecosystem.
How does eCash work?
The eCash network is maintained by a distributed set of participants who validate transactions and add them to the blockchain. XEC is required to pay for transactions and, on many networks, to stake and help secure the chain in exchange for rewards.
What is XEC used for?
XEC pays network fees, can often be staked for yield, and serves as the core unit of value across apps built on eCash. Demand for XEC tends to track activity and adoption on the network itself.

How a XEC swap works
Enter the amount you want to exchange, pick the asset on the other side, and SwapRocket queries every connected exchange partner at once. You choose an offer, paste the wallet address that should receive the funds, and send XEC to the deposit address shown. The partner executes the trade and pays out to your address — SwapRocket never holds your coins, and there is no account to create before you start.
Choosing a rate for XEC
Three offers are presented for every XEC exchange. The best rate returns the largest amount for the size you entered. The fastest route favours the partner with the shortest expected settlement time, which matters when the market is moving. The fixed rate locks the quoted amount for the duration of the order, so what you are shown is what arrives, at the cost of a slightly smaller payout. Floating offers can move with the market between deposit and settlement.
Networks and addresses for XEC
eCash settles on eCash. Always send from and to an address on that network: a deposit sent over a different chain cannot be recovered by the exchange partner. When an asset exists on several chains, pick the matching network in the widget before copying the deposit address, and send a small test amount first if you are unsure.

Bitcoin's proof of work is trusted, but a payment takes around an hour to reach strong finality. eCash kept the proof of work and bolted on a second consensus layer to make payments final in seconds. How does that hybrid work, and what else has it unlocked?
eCash calls itself cash for the internet: a proof-of-work blockchain built to handle payments at mass scale. Its signature feature is combining Nakamoto proof of work with Avalanche consensus, which the project says brings finality down to about three seconds. XEC is the network's native coin. This profile uses eCash's official site.
Two consensus systems, one chain
eCash's homepage describes its foundation in two parts. Nakamoto: the trusted Bitcoin proof-of-work consensus forms the base of the protocol. Avalanche: a separate consensus protocol integrated with eCash's core technology. The site calls the combination a historic first for proof-of-work blockchains.
Proof of work means miners compete to produce blocks, as on Bitcoin. Avalanche adds a network of staking nodes that rapidly poll each other to agree on which transactions and blocks are valid. The two work together: miners still build the chain, but Avalanche nodes decide which chain tip is final.[1], [2]
What the hybrid unlocks
The first benefit is speed. Pre-consensus, the site explains, makes transactions irreversible before they are included in a block, reducing settlement time from 10 minutes to 3 seconds — more than 1,000 times faster than proof-of-work-only coins like Bitcoin, which take about an hour for strong finality.
The second is protection. Smaller proof-of-work networks are vulnerable to 51% attacks, where someone rents enough mining power to rewrite recent history. On eCash, an attacker would need not only most of the hash rate but also most of the staked coins, because Avalanche nodes weighted by stake choose the chain miners build on. Post-consensus locks each new block in as the valid tip, so once finalised it cannot be removed.
The site lists further gains: steadier block times by penalising blocks that arrive too early, real-time transaction processing so nodes prepare each block before it arrives, and a dynamic block size that Avalanche consensus can raise gradually as usage grows.[3], [4], [5]
Built for payments at scale
The project's stated vision is the road to one billion daily transactions. The homepage frames the opportunity: at projected rates, global demand for non-cash payments could reach 100 billion transactions a day, far beyond what existing payment infrastructure can support.
The site lists minimal fees — transactions for less than a hundredth of a cent — and fork-free evolution, meaning upgrades without disrupting the network.[6], [7]
The wider toolkit
Staking rewards pay people to run Avalanche nodes, which the site says improves security and lets anyone earn while holding XEC. Subnets enable customised networks such as EVM or zero-knowledge privacy chains. Chronik is a high-speed indexer built directly into the node, giving developers easy access to network features.
eCash also supports tokens that anyone can create in a few clicks, including NFT collections, with trading inside the wallet's integrated exchange. And CashFusion, the site says, offers anonymity comparable to leading privacy coins while keeping an auditable supply cap.
For developers, the site points to robust infrastructure and tooling built by developers for developers, including the ecash-lib package installable through npm. Alongside the core node, the eCash site lists tools such as Cashtab, PayButton, XECX, Firma and a block explorer, giving merchants and builders ready-made pieces to accept and track payments.[8], [9], [10], [11]
How fast the roadmap arrives
Dynamic block sizing and subnets are described as capabilities the network is building toward. Their deployment timing is UNKNOWN from the official pages reviewed and is not predicted here.[5], [9]
What this means when you hold or move XEC
XEC runs on its own blockchain, so send it only to an eCash address — typically starting with ecash:. Official wallets such as Cashtab are listed on the eCash site.
Staking and token creation happen inside eCash wallets and node software, not through a swap. Keep your transaction ID until delivery; with Avalanche finality, confirmation should be quick.

XEC swap FAQ
How do I swap eCash (XEC) instantly on SwapRocket?
Pick XEC as the asset you want to receive, choose what you're paying with, paste your wallet address, and confirm. SwapRocket hands your order to the provider whose quote pays out the most at that moment, and most swaps complete in under 10 minutes — no SwapRocket account needed.
Can I swap XEC with no KYC?
No SwapRocket account or identity documents are needed to start a crypto-to-crypto swap of XEC. The provider that executes the swap may still request identity verification or hold a swap for review under its own AML and sanctions policy, regardless of amount. Selling to a bank account goes through a regulated payment partner that verifies the payer; card purchases on SwapRocket are coming soon.
Is swapping eCash on SwapRocket non-custodial?
Yes. SwapRocket never holds your funds. The provider that executes the swap receives your deposit, holds it only for the duration of the swap, and sends XEC to the wallet address you provide.
Which network does XEC use here?
SwapRocket supports eCash on the eCash network. Always double-check that your receiving wallet supports this network before confirming.
What fees apply when I swap XEC?
SwapRocket adds no fee or markup to the provider's quote and may earn a commission from the provider on a completed swap. The provider's spread and any network cost it deducts on delivery are already reflected in the XEC amount shown; the network fee your own wallet charges to send the deposit is separate. Spreads vary by provider, pair and size, so compare the quoted receive amount.
