About Tether Gold (XAUT)
Crypto token
Tether Gold (XAUT) is a crypto token on the ERC20 network. It powers its project's ecosystem — used for things like access, governance, fees, or rewards — and trades freely against other digital assets.
How does XAUT work?
Tether Gold runs as a token on the ERC20 network, which means it benefits from that chain's security and tooling while serving the specific role its project defines — for example governance votes, platform fees, staking, or in-app utility.
What is XAUT used for?
Holders use XAUT to participate in the Tether Gold ecosystem and to gain exposure to the project's growth. As with any token, its value is tied to real usage and demand for what the project offers.

How a XAUT swap works
Enter the amount you want to exchange, pick the asset on the other side, and SwapRocket queries every connected exchange partner at once. You choose an offer, paste the wallet address that should receive the funds, and send XAUT to the deposit address shown. The partner executes the trade and pays out to your address — SwapRocket never holds your coins, and there is no account to create before you start.
Choosing a rate for XAUT
Three offers are presented for every XAUT exchange. The best rate returns the largest amount for the size you entered. The fastest route favours the partner with the shortest expected settlement time, which matters when the market is moving. The fixed rate locks the quoted amount for the duration of the order, so what you are shown is what arrives, at the cost of a slightly smaller payout. Floating offers can move with the market between deposit and settlement.
Networks and addresses for XAUT
Tether Gold settles on ERC20. Always send from and to an address on that network: a deposit sent over a different chain cannot be recovered by the exchange partner. When an asset exists on several chains, pick the matching network in the widget before copying the deposit address, and send a small test amount first if you are unsure.

Tether Gold (XAUT) puts ownership of vaulted gold on a blockchain. How do TG Commodities' Swiss vaulting, Tether's published terms and independent BDO attestations combine so that each token stands for one troy ounce of real, owned-by-holders gold?
Gold is simple to understand and awkward to hold: bars need vaults, insurance and paperwork, and most gold products insert layers between the owner and the metal. Tether Gold takes the same approach as other tokenized gold — one token per troy ounce — but publishes an unusual amount of paper around it: an official disclosure document, a transparency page with live reserve figures, and independent assurance reports signed by BDO. Each XAUT represents one troy fine ounce of London Good Delivery gold vaulted in Switzerland. This profile explains how the token works end to end, using Tether's and TG Commodities' own documents.
One token, one ounce, vaulted in Switzerland
Tether's launch announcement states that each XAUT token represents ownership of one troy fine ounce of physical gold on a specific gold bar, held in a Switzerland vault. The token launched on 23 January 2020 as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum, with a TRC-20 version on TRON announced at the same time.
The gold itself is held to the London Bullion Market Association's Good Delivery standard. The independent attestation discussed below confirms that the bars in the reserve meet Good Delivery quality requirements and are vaulted in Switzerland — so the backing is defined in the bullion market's own terms.[1], [4]
Who issues it: TG Commodities in El Salvador
XAUT is issued by TG Commodities, S.A. de C.V., a company incorporated in El Salvador. Its official Relevant Information Document — the disclosure El Salvador's digital-asset law requires — states that Tether Gold has obtained authorization as a stablecoin issuer under the country's Regulations for the Issuance of Public Offerings of Stable Coins.
That places the issuer inside a named regulatory framework rather than an informal arrangement. Tether's own legal page separately records that its corporate group redomiciled to El Salvador and holds authorization from the National Commission of Digital Assets, and lists Tether Gold (XAUt) as one of its distinct product lines.[3], [5]
Reserves attested by an outside firm
Tether Gold publishes independent assurance reports on its reserves. The most recent is an ISAE 3000 reasonable-assurance engagement signed by BDO, covering the Tether Gold Reserves Report as at 31 December 2025, engaged through Tether Global Investments Fund SICAF SA.
Two statements in that report carry the model: the gold reserves are owned by the XAUT token holders, not by the company, and the bars meet London Good Delivery standards in a Swiss vault. Tether's transparency page complements this with a running figure for Total Gold Reserves, expressed in fine troy ounces to three decimal places, held with a custodian as representative of token holders.[4], [6]
Buying direct: minimums, fees and bars
Buying XAUT directly from the issuer is sized for serious allocations. The Relevant Information Document sets a minimum purchase of 50 XAUT — 50 fine troy ounces of gold — and states that redemptions must be made in increments of full gold bars.
The same document prices the service: the cost to acquire tokens is the cost of gold in the Swiss gold market plus a fee of 25 basis points as of the document's date, and becoming a verified customer carries a 150 USDT verification fee. The original launch announcement notes zero custody fees. Most holders instead get XAUT on the secondary market, where these minimums do not apply.[3], [1]
The contract you can check
Tether's supported-protocols page lists the official XAUT contract address on Ethereum as 0x68749665FF8D2d112Fa859AA293F07A622782F38. Checking this address before moving tokens protects against look-alike contracts.
A different address appears in the 2020 launch announcement; it reflects the original deployment and has been superseded by the address on the current supported-protocols page, which is the one to trust. A TRC-20 version of XAUT was announced at launch, but no official page currently lists its TRON contract address, so that address is UNKNOWN here and should be confirmed with Tether before use.[2], [1]
Gold that settles like a token
Because XAUT is an ERC-20 token, it moves between wallets at any hour and can be held in fractions of an ounce, even though the underlying gold sits in a vault and the direct-purchase window runs on business processes.
The result is a division of labour: the vault, custodian and attestation sit with the issuer and its auditors, while holding and transferring behave like any other token on Ethereum. Swaps between XAUT and other assets are where most holders meet it.[2], [6]
What the public record does not show
Tether Gold's own site hosts its legal terms as an interactive application, so the full terms text could not be quoted from a plain page fetch; the official disclosure PDF points readers to that page as authoritative. No working whitepaper PDF is currently published at the address the site suggests.
How the attested bar list maps to circulating tokens day to day is UNKNOWN from public sources beyond the periodic BDO reports and the transparency page's aggregate figures, and is not guessed at here.[3], [4]
What this means when you hold or move XAUT
SwapRocket lists XAUT on Ethereum (ERC-20). Send it only to an Ethereum address from a wallet or service that supports ERC-20 tokens, keep a little ETH in the sending wallet for network fees, and confirm the contract address against Tether's official supported-protocols page before moving size.
Direct purchase and redemption with the issuer follow its own account rules, minimums and verification steps. A swap provider sets its own confirmation policy before releasing the destination coin. Keep the transaction ID until the order completes, and back up your wallet's recovery phrase.
