About UMA (UMA)
Crypto token
UMA (UMA) is a crypto token on the ETH network. It powers its project's ecosystem — used for things like access, governance, fees, or rewards — and trades freely against other digital assets.
How does UMA work?
UMA runs as a token on the ETH network, which means it benefits from that chain's security and tooling while serving the specific role its project defines — for example governance votes, platform fees, staking, or in-app utility.
What is UMA used for?
Holders use UMA to participate in the UMA ecosystem and to gain exposure to the project's growth. As with any token, its value is tied to real usage and demand for what the project offers.

How a UMA swap works
Enter the amount you want to exchange, pick the asset on the other side, and SwapRocket queries every connected exchange partner at once. You choose an offer, paste the wallet address that should receive the funds, and send UMA to the deposit address shown. The partner executes the trade and pays out to your address — SwapRocket never holds your coins, and there is no account to create before you start.
Choosing a rate for UMA
Three offers are presented for every UMA exchange. The best rate returns the largest amount for the size you entered. The fastest route favours the partner with the shortest expected settlement time, which matters when the market is moving. The fixed rate locks the quoted amount for the duration of the order, so what you are shown is what arrives, at the cost of a slightly smaller payout. Floating offers can move with the market between deposit and settlement.
Networks and addresses for UMA
UMA settles on ETH. Always send from and to an address on that network: a deposit sent over a different chain cannot be recovered by the exchange partner. When an asset exists on several chains, pick the matching network in the widget before copying the deposit address, and send a small test amount first if you are unsure.

Smart contracts can move money automatically, but they cannot see the outside world. Who won the game? Did the shipment arrive? UMA's answer is an oracle that assumes a submitted answer is true unless someone puts money on the line to challenge it. How does that work, and why do UMA holders matter?
UMA calls itself a decentralized truth machine. Its optimistic oracle can record any verifiable truth or data onto a blockchain, and it is used by prediction markets including Polymarket. The UMA token provides the oracle's economic guarantees, and token holders vote to settle disputes. This profile uses UMA's official site.
The oracle problem
Blockchains only know what happens on the blockchain. Any app that depends on a real-world fact — a sports result, a weather reading, an election outcome — needs a trustworthy way to bring that fact onchain. That is the job of an oracle.
UMA's homepage says its optimistic oracle (OO) can record any verifiable truth or data onto a blockchain. Unlike oracles that only publish numeric price feeds, the OO can validate natural-language statements and answer arbitrary questions about real-world events — anything, in the site's words, that is universally verifiable.[1], [2]
Four stages to an answer
The site walks through how the oracle verifies data. First, a statement: someone proposes an answer in plain language, along with a bond. That bond acts as a bounty for anyone who can prove the statement wrong.
Second, a challenge period. Anyone can propose an answer to a data request, and it is accepted as true if nobody disputes it within that window. Most statements go undisputed.
Third, a dispute. Every statement is an opportunity for anyone with contrary evidence to earn a reward by disputing it successfully. As game theory would predict, the site notes, disputes are rare in practice because the incentives always favour honesty — which is what makes the oracle optimistic.
Fourth, voting. When a dispute does happen, UMA token holders provide the human component: they vote on the correct answer, and those who vote with the majority earn rewards.[3], [4], [5], [6]
What it is used for
The site lists four areas builders use the oracle for: prediction markets, insurance, cross-chain communication and real-world assets. Prediction markets are the best-known example. The homepage quotes a real question used by Polymarket — whether the Chiefs beat the Eagles in the 2022–2023 Super Bowl — and shows the short smart contract code a developer writes to request that answer.
Insurance works in a similar way: a policy can pay out automatically once the oracle confirms the insured event happened. For cross-chain bridges, the oracle can confirm that something happened on another chain. For real-world assets, it can verify offchain facts those tokens depend on.[7], [8]
Where UMA fits
The site states that the UMA token provides economic guarantees to the optimistic oracle. Holders take part by staking UMA to help secure the oracle and voting on disputes.
The rewards are tied to good behaviour. The site advertises staking and voting rewards of up to 16% APR, says holders who vote correctly and consistently earn higher yields, and explains that successful voters gradually own a larger share of the protocol than unsuccessful or inactive ones.
That design keeps the final layer of the truth machine honest: the people who settle disputes are rewarded for getting them right and gradually lose ground if they don't.
It also means passive holders have a reason to participate: simply holding without voting lets active, accurate voters gradually take a larger share.[9], [10], [11], [12]
How rewards change over time
The site gives an up-to figure for staking rewards, but the actual rate at any moment depends on participation and is not fixed. The current rate is UNKNOWN from the page reviewed and is not predicted here.[11]
What this means when you hold or move UMA
UMA is an Ethereum token. Confirm your receiving wallet or service supports it on the network you are sending on.
Staking and voting happen through UMA's own voter app and are optional. Keep your transaction ID until delivery.

UMA swap FAQ
How do I swap UMA (UMA) instantly on SwapRocket?
Pick UMA as the asset you want to receive, choose what you're paying with, paste your wallet address, and confirm. SwapRocket hands your order to the provider whose quote pays out the most at that moment, and most swaps complete in under 10 minutes — no SwapRocket account needed.
Can I swap UMA with no KYC?
No SwapRocket account or identity documents are needed to start a crypto-to-crypto swap of UMA. The provider that executes the swap may still request identity verification or hold a swap for review under its own AML and sanctions policy, regardless of amount. Selling to a bank account goes through a regulated payment partner that verifies the payer; card purchases on SwapRocket are coming soon.
Is swapping UMA on SwapRocket non-custodial?
Yes. SwapRocket never holds your funds. The provider that executes the swap receives your deposit, holds it only for the duration of the swap, and sends UMA to the wallet address you provide.
Which network does UMA use here?
SwapRocket supports UMA on the ETH network. Always double-check that your receiving wallet supports this network before confirming.
What fees apply when I swap UMA?
SwapRocket adds no fee or markup to the provider's quote and may earn a commission from the provider on a completed swap. The provider's spread and any network cost it deducts on delivery are already reflected in the UMA amount shown; the network fee your own wallet charges to send the deposit is separate. Spreads vary by provider, pair and size, so compare the quoted receive amount.
