About Celestia (TIA)
Layer-1 blockchain
Celestia (TIA) is a Layer-1 blockchain — a base network with its own consensus, validators, and native coin (TIA) used to pay fees and secure the chain. Developers build applications directly on it, and TIA is the asset that powers the whole ecosystem.
How does Celestia work?
The Celestia network is maintained by a distributed set of participants who validate transactions and add them to the blockchain. TIA is required to pay for transactions and, on many networks, to stake and help secure the chain in exchange for rewards.
What is TIA used for?
TIA pays network fees, can often be staked for yield, and serves as the core unit of value across apps built on Celestia. Demand for TIA tends to track activity and adoption on the network itself.

How a TIA swap works
Enter the amount you want to exchange, pick the asset on the other side, and SwapRocket queries every connected exchange partner at once. You choose an offer, paste the wallet address that should receive the funds, and send TIA to the deposit address shown. The partner executes the trade and pays out to your address — SwapRocket never holds your coins, and there is no account to create before you start.
Choosing a rate for TIA
Three offers are presented for every TIA exchange. The best rate returns the largest amount for the size you entered. The fastest route favours the partner with the shortest expected settlement time, which matters when the market is moving. The fixed rate locks the quoted amount for the duration of the order, so what you are shown is what arrives, at the cost of a slightly smaller payout. Floating offers can move with the market between deposit and settlement.
Networks and addresses for TIA
Celestia settles on Celestia. Always send from and to an address on that network: a deposit sent over a different chain cannot be recovered by the exchange partner. When an asset exists on several chains, pick the matching network in the widget before copying the deposit address, and send a small test amount first if you are unsure.

Celestia focuses on one job: making sure the data behind other chains is published and available. How does paying for that service in TIA, staking TIA and voting with TIA let many rollups share one data layer?
A blockchain does several things at once: it orders transactions, executes them and publishes the data so anyone can check the result. Celestia separates out that last job. Rollups can run their own execution and post their data to Celestia, paying in TIA. The same token secures the network through staking and gives holders a vote on its settings. This profile explains how, using Celestia's own documentation.
Paying for blobspace
Celestia's documentation explains that rollup developers submit PayForBlobs transactions to publish data on the network, with the fee denominated in TIA.
As of version 6, a single transaction can carry up to 8 MiB of data. That gives rollups a clear, predictable unit to plan around when they post their data.[3], [12]
A token rollups can adopt
The documentation also notes that developers can use TIA as the gas token and currency of their own rollup, instead of launching a new token from scratch.
That can shorten the path from idea to working chain, since users already know the asset.[4]
Security through staking
Celestia is a proof-of-stake blockchain built on CometBFT and the Cosmos SDK. Its documentation describes an initial validator set of 100.
TIA holders stake to take part in consensus and secure the network, as Celestia's own site explains. Holders who do not run a validator can delegate to one.[5], [10]
Issuance that steps down
TIA's supply at genesis was one billion tokens, with six decimal places. Issuance started at 8% a year and is set to decrease over time towards a long-term rate of 1.5%.
The network has already used governance to adjust that path. The documentation records that the v4 Lotus upgrade, approved as CIP-29 in July 2025, lowered the inflation rate from about 7.2% to about 5.0%.[1], [2], [6], [7]
Holders have a vote
Celestia's documentation states that TIA holders, not only stakers, can propose and vote on changes to a set of network parameters.
A community pool receives 2% of block rewards, and holders can vote to fund projects from it. Changes such as the Lotus upgrade show that process in use.[8], [9], [7]
Why a separate data layer helps
When every chain has to publish and store all of its own data, each new chain must also attract enough validators to secure that data. Celestia offers a shared alternative. Rollups keep control of how their transactions run, while a single proof-of-stake network takes care of publishing the data so anyone can check it.
That arrangement lets a small team launch a chain without first building a large validator set of its own. Fees for data are paid in TIA through PayForBlobs transactions, and the same token secures the network that stores the data. The link between using the service and securing it is direct and easy to follow.
For users, the benefit is indirect but real: rollups built this way can publish their data in a place that many independent validators keep available, which supports anyone who wants to verify what happened on those chains.[3], [5], [10]
How demand for data grows
Celestia is built for many rollups sharing one data layer, and the amount of TIA staked and the volume of blob data both change continuously. How that demand will develop as more rollups launch is UNKNOWN from public sources.
It is not predicted here; the live figures are only visible on the network itself.[3], [5]
What this means when you hold or move TIA
SwapRocket lists TIA on the native Celestia network. Celestia addresses start with celestia1, so send TIA only to a non-custodial wallet that supports Celestia, as Celestia's own site recommends for keeping control of your funds.
Match the network in your quote to the receiving wallet. If you plan to stake, keep a little TIA aside for fees, and keep the transaction ID until the swap completes.

Yes. SwapRocket never holds your funds. The provider that executes the swap receives your deposit, holds it only for the duration of the swap, and sends TIA to the wallet address you provide.
Which network does TIA use here?
SwapRocket supports Celestia on the Celestia network. Always double-check that your receiving wallet supports this network before confirming.
What fees apply when I swap TIA?
SwapRocket adds no fee or markup to the provider's quote and may earn a commission from the provider on a completed swap. The provider's spread and any network cost it deducts on delivery are already reflected in the TIA amount shown; the network fee your own wallet charges to send the deposit is separate. Spreads vary by provider, pair and size, so compare the quoted receive amount.
