About Theta (THETA)
Layer-1 blockchain
Theta (THETA) is a Layer-1 blockchain — a base network with its own consensus, validators, and native coin (THETA) used to pay fees and secure the chain. Developers build applications directly on it, and THETA is the asset that powers the whole ecosystem.
How does Theta work?
The Theta network is maintained by a distributed set of participants who validate transactions and add them to the blockchain. THETA is required to pay for transactions and, on many networks, to stake and help secure the chain in exchange for rewards.
What is THETA used for?
THETA pays network fees, can often be staked for yield, and serves as the core unit of value across apps built on Theta. Demand for THETA tends to track activity and adoption on the network itself.

How a THETA swap works
Enter the amount you want to exchange, pick the asset on the other side, and SwapRocket queries every connected exchange partner at once. You choose an offer, paste the wallet address that should receive the funds, and send THETA to the deposit address shown. The partner executes the trade and pays out to your address — SwapRocket never holds your coins, and there is no account to create before you start.
Choosing a rate for THETA
Three offers are presented for every THETA exchange. The best rate returns the largest amount for the size you entered. The fastest route favours the partner with the shortest expected settlement time, which matters when the market is moving. The fixed rate locks the quoted amount for the duration of the order, so what you are shown is what arrives, at the cost of a slightly smaller payout. Floating offers can move with the market between deposit and settlement.
Networks and addresses for THETA
Theta settles on Theta. Always send from and to an address on that network: a deposit sent over a different chain cannot be recovered by the exchange partner. When an asset exists on several chains, pick the matching network in the widget before copying the deposit address, and send a small test amount first if you are unsure.

Theta runs on two tokens: THETA for staking and governance, and TFUEL for everyday fees. Why split the roles this way, and how do validators, Guardian Nodes and the Edge Network fit around it?
Many networks use one coin for everything: paying fees, securing the chain and voting. Theta separates those jobs. THETA has a fixed supply and is staked by the nodes that secure the chain, while TFUEL pays for transactions, smart contracts and work done on the network. Alongside the blockchain sits a large network of edge nodes that share computing power. This profile explains the design using Theta's own documentation, blog and white paper.
Two tokens, two jobs
Theta's official blog describes THETA as the governance token of the protocol, used to stake as a Validator or Guardian node. TFUEL is the operational token, which the blog compares to the gas of the protocol.
Keeping the two apart means everyday activity is paid for in TFUEL, while THETA stays focused on securing and steering the network.
It also means the cost of using the network and the reward for securing it are handled by different assets. People who only want to run applications or pay for services need TFUEL, while those who want to help secure the chain and have a say in it hold and stake THETA. Each group can plan around the token that matters to them, and the split keeps the staking asset from being spent away on everyday fees.[1], [2]
A fixed supply of THETA
The blog states that the supply of THETA is fixed at one billion and will never increase. Nodes that stake THETA and do their work earn a proportional share of newly generated TFUEL instead.
This gives stakers a reward tied to taking part, without adding new THETA to the supply.[3], [4]
Validators and Guardians
Theta uses two layers of nodes. Validator Nodes produce blocks, and Guardian Nodes seal blocks and act as a check on Validator Nodes that misbehave or stop working.
Theta's documentation sets the minimum stake for a Guardian Node at 1,000 THETA. That lower threshold opens the second layer of security to many more participants than the validator set alone.[8], [7]
A blockchain and an edge network
Theta's documentation describes the network as a dual network: the Theta Blockchain and Theta EdgeCloud, which shares distributed GPU computing power.
The Edge Network is made up of over 10,000 active nodes around the world, according to the same page. The blockchain handles payments and rewards for that work.[5], [6]
Smart contracts on mainnet
Theta's white paper records that Turing-complete smart contract support was enabled on the Theta Blockchain mainnet in the fourth quarter of 2020.
That lets developers build applications on the chain, with TFUEL paying for contract execution.[11]
Staking in practice
The staking guide explains that Guardian staking can be done from the Theta Web Wallet or the Theta mobile app. Each staking transaction needs at least one TFUEL in the wallet to pay the fee.
That small detail is a direct result of the two-token design: staking uses THETA, but the transaction itself is paid in TFUEL.
It is a pattern worth remembering for any action on the network. Holding a little TFUEL alongside THETA keeps transfers, staking and contract calls working smoothly, while the THETA balance itself stays intact.[10], [9]
How the node set develops
The documentation explains how Validator and Guardian Nodes work together, but the number of active nodes changes over time and is only visible on the live network. How the balance between the two layers will develop is UNKNOWN from public sources.
It is not predicted here.[8]
What this means when you hold or move THETA
SwapRocket lists THETA on the native Theta network. Send it only to a wallet that supports the Theta mainnet, such as Theta's own wallets, and keep a little TFUEL there for fees.
Match the network in your quote to the receiving wallet, and keep the transaction ID until the swap completes.

SwapRocket supports Theta on the Theta network. Always double-check that your receiving wallet supports this network before confirming.
What fees apply when I swap THETA?
SwapRocket adds no fee or markup to the provider's quote and may earn a commission from the provider on a completed swap. The provider's spread and any network cost it deducts on delivery are already reflected in the THETA amount shown; the network fee your own wallet charges to send the deposit is separate. Spreads vary by provider, pair and size, so compare the quoted receive amount.
