About Starknet (STRK)

Crypto token

Starknet (STRK) is a crypto token on the ERC20 network. It powers its project's ecosystem — used for things like access, governance, fees, or rewards — and trades freely against other digital assets.

How does STRK work?

Starknet runs as a token on the ERC20 network, which means it benefits from that chain's security and tooling while serving the specific role its project defines — for example governance votes, platform fees, staking, or in-app utility.

What is STRK used for?

Holders use STRK to participate in the Starknet ecosystem and to gain exposure to the project's growth. As with any token, its value is tied to real usage and demand for what the project offers.

How a STRK swap works

Enter the amount you want to exchange, pick the asset on the other side, and SwapRocket queries every connected exchange partner at once. You choose an offer, paste the wallet address that should receive the funds, and send STRK to the deposit address shown. The partner executes the trade and pays out to your address — SwapRocket never holds your coins, and there is no account to create before you start.

Choosing a rate for STRK

Three offers are presented for every STRK exchange. The best rate returns the largest amount for the size you entered. The fastest route favours the partner with the shortest expected settlement time, which matters when the market is moving. The fixed rate locks the quoted amount for the duration of the order, so what you are shown is what arrives, at the cost of a slightly smaller payout. Floating offers can move with the market between deposit and settlement.

Networks and addresses for STRK

Starknet settles on ERC20. Always send from and to an address on that network: a deposit sent over a different chain cannot be recovered by the exchange partner. When an asset exists on several chains, pick the matching network in the widget before copying the deposit address, and send a small test amount first if you are unsure.

Starknet scales Ethereum with STARK proofs and makes every account a smart account. What does the STRK token do on a network like that, and how is its role changing as Starknet moves to proof-of-stake?

Starknet is a validity rollup (ZK-rollup) that runs on top of Ethereum, batching transactions off-chain and proving them with STARK cryptography. STRK is its native token, used for staking as the network transitions to proof-of-stake. This profile is built from starknet.io.

What Starknet says it is

Starknet's own explainer describes it as a Validity-Rollup (also called a ZK-Rollup) Layer 2 network that operates on top of Ethereum, letting applications scale massively without compromising on security. The homepage frames the pitch in terms of "unlimited scale" while retaining Ethereum's security and decentralisation.

Two further themes run through the site. The first is user experience: Starknet uses native account abstraction, so every account is a smart account whose behaviour is defined by developers rather than fixed by the protocol. The second is Cairo, Starknet's own smart-contract language, which the site presents as letting developers express any kind of business logic. More recently the homepage has added privacy (the STRK20 standard) and a stated ambition to act as an execution layer for Bitcoin as well as Ethereum.[1], [2], [3], [4]

How it works

According to starknet.io, Starknet moves transaction processing off Ethereum's main network while keeping a summary on-chain. Transactions are grouped into blocks, executed off-chain, and then summarised in a single on-chain transaction. To make sure that off-chain execution was done correctly without re-running it, Starknet generates a STARK proof — the acronym stands for Scalable, Transparent ARgument of Knowledge — and sends only the essential block data and the proof to Ethereum, where it can be verified with minimal computation.

The practical effect, as the site describes it, is higher throughput, faster processing and lower costs, while final settlement still rests on Ethereum. The explainer names two key components in this pipeline: the sequencer, which orders and batches transactions, and the prover, which produces the proofs. StarkWare has also introduced a new prover, S-two, which the homepage describes as the fastest for client-side proving on everyday devices.

Because all accounts are smart accounts, features that on other chains need extra tooling — such as custom signature schemes or recovery rules — can be designed into wallets directly on Starknet.[5], [6], [7], [8]

What STRK is used for

The clearest documented role for STRK today is staking. Starknet's staking page says the network is transitioning to proof-of-stake and calls staking a major step toward full decentralisation, describing Starknet as the first major Layer 2 with a staking mechanism.

Validators must lock a minimum of 20,000 STRK and run a full node; delegators can delegate STRK to a validator with no minimum. The page states that stakers earn newly minted STRK in proportion to their stake, in line with Starknet's tokenomics, and that Bitcoin can also be staked on Starknet. The site navigation also lists governance as part of the network's decentralisation effort, alongside staking and the roadmap.[9], [10], [11], [12]

Risks and open questions

Starknet describes itself as on a road to decentralisation rather than already fully there. The sequencer and prover are central pieces of infrastructure, and the pace at which they are opened to independent operators matters for how much users rely on the core team. Proof-of-stake is described as a transition in progress.

Staking rewards are paid in newly minted STRK, which adds to supply; holders who do not stake are diluted relative to those who do. As with any Layer 2, moving assets in and out depends on bridges, and those carry smart-contract risk of their own. Cairo is a distinct language, so the developer ecosystem is separate from Ethereum's Solidity tooling.[13], [11]

What the official sources do not say

UNKNOWN from official sources: the pages reviewed do not give a dated timeline for fully decentralised sequencing and proving, the current inflation rate from staking rewards, or the exact scope of on-chain governance powers held by STRK holders.

Nothing here predicts the token's future price or adoption.

What this means when you hold or move STRK

STRK exists both on Starknet itself and as a token on Ethereum. Before sending, check which network your receiving wallet or exchange expects — a Starknet address and an Ethereum address are not interchangeable. Because Starknet accounts are smart contracts, some wallets need the account deployed before it can receive certain transfers; your wallet will usually prompt you.

If you plan to stake, the official staking page links to the staking docs and repository. Keep your transaction hash until delivery so you can look it up on a Starknet or Ethereum explorer.

Fees and pricing

Zero added fees: SwapRocket does not add a platform fee, a minimum or a withdrawal charge — the rate you see is the rate you get. Blockchain network fees are shown in full before you confirm, and the final amount you receive is quoted up front.

SwapRocket does not add a separate fee or markup to the provider quote. SwapRocket may earn a commission from the liquidity provider when a completed swap is referred through our platform. Provider spreads and applicable network costs are reflected in the quoted amount.

Network fees are set by the blockchain, not by SwapRocket. No account, no subscription and no withdrawal charge. Live support is available 24/7.

STRK swap FAQ

How do I swap Starknet (STRK) instantly on SwapRocket?

Pick STRK as the asset you want to receive, choose what you're paying with, paste your wallet address, and confirm. SwapRocket hands your order to the provider whose quote pays out the most at that moment, and most swaps complete in under 10 minutes — no SwapRocket account needed.

Can I swap STRK with no KYC?

No SwapRocket account or identity documents are needed to start a crypto-to-crypto swap of STRK. The provider that executes the swap may still request identity verification or hold a swap for review under its own AML and sanctions policy, regardless of amount. Selling to a bank account goes through a regulated payment partner that verifies the payer; card purchases on SwapRocket are coming soon.

Is swapping Starknet on SwapRocket non-custodial?

Yes. SwapRocket never holds your funds. The provider that executes the swap receives your deposit, holds it only for the duration of the swap, and sends STRK to the wallet address you provide.

Which network does STRK use here?

SwapRocket supports Starknet on the ERC20 network. Always double-check that your receiving wallet supports this network before confirming.

What fees apply when I swap STRK?

SwapRocket adds no fee or markup to the provider's quote and may earn a commission from the provider on a completed swap. The provider's spread and any network cost it deducts on delivery are already reflected in the STRK amount shown; the network fee your own wallet charges to send the deposit is separate. Spreads vary by provider, pair and size, so compare the quoted receive amount.
