About Sky (SKY)
Crypto token
Sky (SKY) is a crypto token on the ERC20 network. It powers its project's ecosystem — used for things like access, governance, fees, or rewards — and trades freely against other digital assets.
How does SKY work?
Sky runs as a token on the ERC20 network, which means it benefits from that chain's security and tooling while serving the specific role its project defines — for example governance votes, platform fees, staking, or in-app utility.
What is SKY used for?
Holders use SKY to participate in the Sky ecosystem and to gain exposure to the project's growth. As with any token, its value is tied to real usage and demand for what the project offers.

How a SKY swap works
Enter the amount you want to exchange, pick the asset on the other side, and SwapRocket queries every connected exchange partner at once. You choose an offer, paste the wallet address that should receive the funds, and send SKY to the deposit address shown. The partner executes the trade and pays out to your address — SwapRocket never holds your coins, and there is no account to create before you start.
Choosing a rate for SKY
Three offers are presented for every SKY exchange. The best rate returns the largest amount for the size you entered. The fastest route favours the partner with the shortest expected settlement time, which matters when the market is moving. The fixed rate locks the quoted amount for the duration of the order, so what you are shown is what arrives, at the cost of a slightly smaller payout. Floating offers can move with the market between deposit and settlement.
Networks and addresses for SKY
Sky settles on ERC20. Always send from and to an address on that network: a deposit sent over a different chain cannot be recovered by the exchange partner. When an asset exists on several chains, pick the matching network in the widget before copying the deposit address, and send a small test amount first if you are unsure.

SKY is the governance token of Sky, the protocol that grew out of MakerDAO and issues the USDS stablecoin. How do SKY holders steer the protocol, and how do the conversion routes from MKR and DAI tie the old system to the new one?
MakerDAO built one of the longest-running decentralized stablecoins, DAI, governed by holders of MKR. Sky is the next stage of that system: a new stablecoin, USDS, a new governance token, SKY, and fixed conversion routes so existing holders can move across without a market trade. This profile explains how the pieces fit together, using the Sky Protocol developer documentation.
From MKR to SKY
Sky's documentation describes a converter that swaps MKR and SKY at a fixed rate of 1 MKR to 24,000 SKY, using the mint and burn functions of both tokens. No fee is charged on this route, and the documentation states that fees cannot be enabled on it later.
Sky's governance upgrade guide explains that governance is moving from MKR to SKY, and that the two-way conversion becomes one-way as part of that upgrade. The fixed rate means holders can follow exactly how an old balance maps to a new one.[1], [2], [5]
What SKY itself is
SKY is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum. The documentation notes two additions to the basic standard: permit, which lets a holder approve spending with a signature instead of a separate transaction, and EIP-1271, which lets smart-contract wallets sign.
Those details matter in practice, because many SKY holders use multisignature or contract wallets to vote and stake.[3], [4]
How holders vote
Sky governance runs through a contract called the Chief. Voters lock their tokens in it to give their votes weight and choose between proposals by continuous approval voting, so support can shift at any time rather than only during fixed windows.
Approved changes do not take effect instantly. They pass through the Pause contract, which enforces a delay before a scheduled change can run. That waiting period gives everyone time to review what is about to happen.[7], [6], [8]
Staking, borrowing and delegation in one place
The Staking Engine, also called the LockStake Engine, lets a holder deposit SKY into a vault. From that vault they can borrow USDS against the SKY, stake it for rewards, or delegate its voting power to a governance delegate.
A single address can open several vaults, so one holder can use different parts of their SKY for different purposes.[9], [10]
USDS and the link to DAI
USDS is the stablecoin SKY governs. It is an ERC-20 token, and a converter lets anyone move between DAI and USDS at a fixed 1:1 rate with no fee.
Holders who want the Sky Savings Rate can deposit USDS into sUSDS, a vault that follows the ERC-4626 standard and converts shares back to USDS in real time.[11], [12], [13]
Keeping the dollar peg liquid
Sky's LitePSM is a peg stability module that lets users swap between DAI, USDS and outside stablecoins such as USDC with no slippage, using a pool of pre-minted tokens.
That gives the stablecoins SKY governs a simple, predictable route to other dollars, which supports the peg in everyday use.[14]
How the new governance settles in
Moving voting from MKR to SKY is a large change for a system with a long history. The upgrade guide describes the phases and the monitoring tools, but how participation and delegation will look once the change is fully in place is UNKNOWN from public sources.
What this means when you hold or move SKY
SwapRocket lists SKY as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum. Send it only to an Ethereum address starting with 0x from a wallet that supports ERC-20 tokens, and keep some ETH for network fees.
If you still hold MKR, Sky's documentation explains the official conversion route. Use the contract addresses listed there, not addresses from messages or ads, and keep the transaction ID until your swap completes.

SKY swap FAQ
How do I swap Sky (SKY) instantly on SwapRocket?
Pick SKY as the asset you want to receive, choose what you're paying with, paste your wallet address, and confirm. SwapRocket hands your order to the provider whose quote pays out the most at that moment, and most swaps complete in under 10 minutes — no SwapRocket account needed.
Can I swap SKY with no KYC?
No SwapRocket account or identity documents are needed to start a crypto-to-crypto swap of SKY. The provider that executes the swap may still request identity verification or hold a swap for review under its own AML and sanctions policy, regardless of amount. Selling to a bank account goes through a regulated payment partner that verifies the payer; card purchases on SwapRocket are coming soon.
Is swapping Sky on SwapRocket non-custodial?
Yes. SwapRocket never holds your funds. The provider that executes the swap receives your deposit, holds it only for the duration of the swap, and sends SKY to the wallet address you provide.
Which network does SKY use here?
SwapRocket supports Sky on the ERC20 network. Always double-check that your receiving wallet supports this network before confirming.
What fees apply when I swap SKY?
SwapRocket adds no fee or markup to the provider's quote and may earn a commission from the provider on a completed swap. The provider's spread and any network cost it deducts on delivery are already reflected in the SKY amount shown; the network fee your own wallet charges to send the deposit is separate. Spreads vary by provider, pair and size, so compare the quoted receive amount.
