About Qtum (QTUM)
Layer-1 blockchain
Qtum (QTUM) is a Layer-1 blockchain — a base network with its own consensus, validators, and native coin (QTUM) used to pay fees and secure the chain. Developers build applications directly on it, and QTUM is the asset that powers the whole ecosystem.
How does Qtum work?
The Qtum network is maintained by a distributed set of participants who validate transactions and add them to the blockchain. QTUM is required to pay for transactions and, on many networks, to stake and help secure the chain in exchange for rewards.
What is QTUM used for?
QTUM pays network fees, can often be staked for yield, and serves as the core unit of value across apps built on Qtum. Demand for QTUM tends to track activity and adoption on the network itself.

How a QTUM swap works
Enter the amount you want to exchange, pick the asset on the other side, and SwapRocket queries every connected exchange partner at once. You choose an offer, paste the wallet address that should receive the funds, and send QTUM to the deposit address shown. The partner executes the trade and pays out to your address — SwapRocket never holds your coins, and there is no account to create before you start.
Choosing a rate for QTUM
Three offers are presented for every QTUM exchange. The best rate returns the largest amount for the size you entered. The fastest route favours the partner with the shortest expected settlement time, which matters when the market is moving. The fixed rate locks the quoted amount for the duration of the order, so what you are shown is what arrives, at the cost of a slightly smaller payout. Floating offers can move with the market between deposit and settlement.
Networks and addresses for QTUM
Qtum settles on Qtum. Always send from and to an address on that network: a deposit sent over a different chain cannot be recovered by the exchange partner. When an asset exists on several chains, pick the matching network in the widget before copying the deposit address, and send a small test amount first if you are unsure.

Qtum runs Ethereum-style smart contracts on top of Bitcoin-style transaction accounting. Why was that hybrid built, and what does the QTUM token do in it?
Qtum is a blockchain that combines Bitcoin's UTXO transaction model with Ethereum-style smart contracts through a layer it calls the Account Abstraction Layer. This profile is built from Qtum's own site and technology pages, with everything else marked unverified.
What Qtum says it is
Qtum's own technology page describes the network as a hybrid blockchain that combines Bitcoin's UTXO model with Ethereum's smart-contract capabilities through an Account Abstraction Layer, targeting enterprise-grade applications.
The page lists the core components: a complete node implementation called Qtum Core, the Bitcoin-derived UTXO transaction model, the abstraction layer that bridges UTXO with an account model, Ethereum-compatible EVM smart contracts, proof-of-stake consensus, a Decentralized Governance Protocol, and SPV support for mobile compatibility. QTUM is the network's native token.[1], [2], [3], [4]
How it works
The design starts from Bitcoin's unspent-transaction-output model, which Qtum presents as providing secure, reliable transaction processing. The Account Abstraction Layer then translates between that UTXO world and the account-based world the Ethereum Virtual Machine expects, so standard EVM smart contracts can run on a UTXO chain.
Consensus is proof of stake rather than proof of work, which Qtum describes as energy-efficient. The Decentralized Governance Protocol allows certain network parameters to be changed through on-chain governance rather than hard forks, and SPV support means light wallets can verify payments without a full node.
Qtum's technology page frames the overall architecture as taking the security and stability side from Bitcoin and the programmability and versatility side from Ethereum, and it presents the combination as suited to enterprise-grade applications. That framing is the project's own; the pages reviewed do not name current enterprise deployments, so the extent of real-world enterprise use cannot be confirmed from official sources.[5], [6], [7], [9]
What QTUM is used for
QTUM is the native asset of the network: it is staked by validators under the proof-of-stake consensus and used to pay for transaction and smart-contract execution costs. Qtum's site also points to a broader ecosystem including a blog, developer resources, a whitepaper and a Qtum.AI initiative.
The site does not publish current staking participation or network-usage figures on the pages reviewed, so the practical scale of activity on the network is not something this profile can confirm from official sources.[8]
Risks and open questions
Qtum launched in 2017 and is one of the older smart-contract platforms still operating, which cuts both ways: the design is battle-tested, but the network competes for developers and users against much larger EVM ecosystems.
The hybrid UTXO-plus-EVM architecture is technically distinctive but has not become an industry standard, so tooling and developer mindshare are thinner than on mainstream EVM chains. As with any smaller proof-of-stake network, the distribution of staked tokens affects how decentralised block production actually is, and current staking-distribution data was not available from the official pages reviewed.
What the official sources do not say
UNKNOWN from official sources: current staking participation and validator distribution, present-day application activity on the network, and the current status and scope of the Qtum.AI initiative. The pages reviewed describe the architecture and its intended uses rather than measured adoption, so real usage levels cannot be confirmed from them.
It is not predicted here.
What this means when you hold or move QTUM
If you hold QTUM, use a wallet that explicitly supports the Qtum network — QTUM is not an ERC-20 token, and sending it to an Ethereum address format without a bridge or exchange support can strand funds.
The official site links to downloads and documentation; get wallet software from there rather than from search ads or messages. Keep your transaction ID until delivery is complete so you can trace it on a Qtum explorer if anything is delayed.

Fees and pricing
Zero added fees: SwapRocket does not add a platform fee, a minimum or a withdrawal charge — the rate you see is the rate you get. Blockchain network fees are shown in full before you confirm, and the final amount you receive is quoted up front.
SwapRocket does not add a separate fee or markup to the provider quote. SwapRocket may earn a commission from the liquidity provider when a completed swap is referred through our platform. Provider spreads and applicable network costs are reflected in the quoted amount.
Network fees are set by the blockchain, not by SwapRocket. No account, no subscription and no withdrawal charge. Live support is available 24/7.
QTUM swap FAQ
How do I swap Qtum (QTUM) instantly on SwapRocket?
Pick QTUM as the asset you want to receive, choose what you're paying with, paste your wallet address, and confirm. SwapRocket hands your order to the provider whose quote pays out the most at that moment, and most swaps complete in under 10 minutes — no SwapRocket account needed.
Can I swap QTUM with no KYC?
No SwapRocket account or identity documents are needed to start a crypto-to-crypto swap of QTUM. The provider that executes the swap may still request identity verification or hold a swap for review under its own AML and sanctions policy, regardless of amount. Selling to a bank account goes through a regulated payment partner that verifies the payer; card purchases on SwapRocket are coming soon.
Is swapping Qtum on SwapRocket non-custodial?
Yes. SwapRocket never holds your funds. The provider that executes the swap receives your deposit, holds it only for the duration of the swap, and sends QTUM to the wallet address you provide.
Which network does QTUM use here?
SwapRocket supports Qtum on the Qtum network. Always double-check that your receiving wallet supports this network before confirming.
What fees apply when I swap QTUM?
SwapRocket adds no fee or markup to the provider's quote and may earn a commission from the provider on a completed swap. The provider's spread and any network cost it deducts on delivery are already reflected in the QTUM amount shown; the network fee your own wallet charges to send the deposit is separate. Spreads vary by provider, pair and size, so compare the quoted receive amount.
