About PAX Gold (PAXG)
Crypto token
PAX Gold (PAXG) is a crypto token on the ERC20 network. It powers its project's ecosystem — used for things like access, governance, fees, or rewards — and trades freely against other digital assets.
How does PAXG work?
PAX Gold runs as a token on the ERC20 network, which means it benefits from that chain's security and tooling while serving the specific role its project defines — for example governance votes, platform fees, staking, or in-app utility.
What is PAXG used for?
Holders use PAXG to participate in the PAX Gold ecosystem and to gain exposure to the project's growth. As with any token, its value is tied to real usage and demand for what the project offers.

How a PAXG swap works
Enter the amount you want to exchange, pick the asset on the other side, and SwapRocket queries every connected exchange partner at once. You choose an offer, paste the wallet address that should receive the funds, and send PAXG to the deposit address shown. The partner executes the trade and pays out to your address — SwapRocket never holds your coins, and there is no account to create before you start.
Choosing a rate for PAXG
Three offers are presented for every PAXG exchange. The best rate returns the largest amount for the size you entered. The fastest route favours the partner with the shortest expected settlement time, which matters when the market is moving. The fixed rate locks the quoted amount for the duration of the order, so what you are shown is what arrives, at the cost of a slightly smaller payout. Floating offers can move with the market between deposit and settlement.
Networks and addresses for PAXG
PAX Gold settles on ERC20. Always send from and to an address on that network: a deposit sent over a different chain cannot be recovered by the exchange partner. When an asset exists on several chains, pick the matching network in the widget before copying the deposit address, and send a small test amount first if you are unsure.

PAX Gold (PAXG) puts ownership of physical gold on a blockchain. How do Paxos's vaulted bars, bar-by-bar allocation and regulated custody combine so that each token stands for a real ounce you can trace?
Owning gold usually means a trade-off. Physical bars are real and simple to understand, but they are costly to store, insure and move. Gold funds and certificates are easier to hold, but they put more layers between the owner and the metal. PAX Gold aims to keep the directness of owning bars while adding the portability of a crypto token. Each PAXG represents one fine troy ounce of London Good Delivery gold held in London vaults, and Paxos assigns tokens to specific, serial-numbered bars. This profile explains how that works, using Paxos's own documents, contracts and support material.
One token, one ounce of vaulted gold
Paxos's documentation states that each PAXG token represents one fine troy ounce of London Good Delivery gold. Good Delivery is the London bullion market's standard for bar size, purity and approved refiners, so the backing is defined in the market's own terms rather than a custom benchmark.
The PAX Gold page says the gold backing PAXG is stored in LBMA vaults in London, and the documentation states that PAXG is always fully redeemable from Paxos on a one-to-one basis for physical gold. The original white paper presents PAX Gold as a tokenized version of real, physical gold, and that design goal still shapes the product.[1], [2], [3]
Allocation to specific bars
A distinctive part of PAXG is allocation. Paxos's support documentation explains that it allocates gold automatically, so every PAXG token is assigned to specific gold bars at all times, and allocations are updated as tokens move.
Holders can look up the bar behind their tokens, including its serial number, weight and fineness. This moves gold ownership from a general promise to a traceable record of which metal backs which tokens.[4]
Regulated custody and regular reporting
PAXG is issued by Paxos Trust Company. The PAX Gold page describes Paxos as a trust company and custodian regulated by the US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, and states that the allocated gold is audited monthly.
Paxos also publishes terms and conditions for PAX Gold that set out how issuance, redemption and holdings work. Taken together, the regulated issuer, the monthly checks and the published terms give holders a clear record of who is responsible for the gold.[2], [8]
Open contracts on public blockchains
Paxos's mainnet reference lists the official PAXG token address on Ethereum as 0x45804880De22913dAFE09f4980848ECE6EcbAf78, along with a Solana token address. The PAXG contract code is published on GitHub, and its documentation explains that users interact with the token through the proxy contract at that Ethereum address.
Publishing the addresses and code in official places helps holders avoid look-alike tokens and lets anyone review how the contract is built.[5], [6]
Gold that settles like a token
Because PAXG is a token, it can move between wallets and platforms at any hour, even though the gold market itself keeps business hours. Paxos's dashboard guide notes that PAX Gold transactions and price quotes on its own platform follow usual London gold market hours.
The PAX Gold page also highlights zero on-chain transfer fees charged by Paxos, so moving PAXG costs only the network's own transaction fee. The result is gold that can be held in small amounts and settled the way crypto settles.[7], [2]
Matching off-chain allocation to on-chain transfers
Allocation happens in Paxos's own systems, while transfers happen on public blockchains. Paxos describes allocation as automatic and continuous, but its public documentation does not detail how allocation keeps pace with on-chain transfers during very busy periods.
How that reconciliation works in practice is UNKNOWN from public sources and is not guessed at here. The monthly audits remain the published check on the gold itself.[4], [2]
What this means when you hold or move PAXG
SwapRocket lists PAXG on Ethereum (ERC-20). Send it only to an Ethereum address from a wallet or service that supports ERC-20 tokens, keep a little ETH in the sending wallet for network fees, and confirm the contract address against Paxos's official list.
Redeeming PAXG for physical bars is handled by Paxos under its own account rules. A swap provider sets its own confirmation policy before releasing the destination coin. Keep the transaction ID until the order completes, and back up your wallet's recovery phrase.
