About Morpho (MORPHO)
Crypto token
Morpho (MORPHO) is a crypto token on the ERC20 network. It powers its project's ecosystem — used for things like access, governance, fees, or rewards — and trades freely against other digital assets.
How does MORPHO work?
Morpho runs as a token on the ERC20 network, which means it benefits from that chain's security and tooling while serving the specific role its project defines — for example governance votes, platform fees, staking, or in-app utility.
What is MORPHO used for?
Holders use MORPHO to participate in the Morpho ecosystem and to gain exposure to the project's growth. As with any token, its value is tied to real usage and demand for what the project offers.

How a MORPHO swap works
Enter the amount you want to exchange, pick the asset on the other side, and SwapRocket queries every connected exchange partner at once. You choose an offer, paste the wallet address that should receive the funds, and send MORPHO to the deposit address shown. The partner executes the trade and pays out to your address — SwapRocket never holds your coins, and there is no account to create before you start.
Choosing a rate for MORPHO
Three offers are presented for every MORPHO exchange. The best rate returns the largest amount for the size you entered. The fastest route favours the partner with the shortest expected settlement time, which matters when the market is moving. The fixed rate locks the quoted amount for the duration of the order, so what you are shown is what arrives, at the cost of a slightly smaller payout. Floating offers can move with the market between deposit and settlement.
Networks and addresses for MORPHO
Morpho settles on ERC20. Always send from and to an address on that network: a deposit sent over a different chain cannot be recovered by the exchange partner. When an asset exists on several chains, pick the matching network in the widget before copying the deposit address, and send a small test amount first if you are unsure.

Most lending protocols pool many assets together and ask governance to approve each listing. Morpho does the opposite: small, isolated markets that anyone can create and nobody can change. What does the MORPHO token govern in a system built that way?
Morpho is an onchain lending protocol built from simple markets that each pair one collateral asset with one loan asset. Vaults and curators sit on top to route deposits across those markets, and the MORPHO token gives holders a vote over the parts of the system that governance does control. This profile explains the design using Morpho's official documentation and its public code repository.
One collateral, one loan asset
Morpho's documentation describes a variable rate market, also called Morpho Blue, as a primitive lending pool that pairs exactly one collateral asset with one loan asset. Each market is isolated, so risk stays inside it, and immutable, so its rules cannot be changed after deployment.
A market is defined by five parameters: the collateral asset, the loan asset, a liquidation loan-to-value (LLTV), an oracle that prices collateral against the loan asset, and an interest rate model. On Morpho's apps a market is named in the form LoanAsset | CollateralAsset (LLTV%).[1], [2]
Anyone can create a market
The documentation calls permissionless market creation a distinctive feature: new markets do not need a governance vote. It contrasts this with traditional lending platforms that require governance approval for each asset listing and pool assets together so that risk is shared across the whole platform.
Governance still draws the outer lines. Market creators choose from a governance-approved list of LLTV values and interest rate models; the documentation states that the only approved interest rate model is the AdaptiveCurveIRM.[3], [4]
Prices and liquidations
Each market relies on an oracle, which Morpho's documentation describes as a smart contract answering questions such as how many USDC one BTC is worth right now. That price determines collateral value and borrowing capacity.
Liquidation is built into the protocol core. When a borrower's loan-to-value rises above the market's LLTV, the position can be liquidated in full or in part, which the documentation explains is how lenders' capital is protected.[5], [6]
Vaults and curators
Because individual markets are narrow, most depositors do not pick them one by one. Morpho Vault V2 is described as a permissionless vault framework for curated lending strategies, built around adapters that connect to yield sources and a system of caps on risk identifiers such as collateral, oracle or protocol exposure.
The documentation separates vault roles into owner, curator, allocator and sentinel, so that the person setting risk limits is not necessarily the one moving funds. This layering lets the base markets stay simple while strategy decisions happen above them.[7], [8]
What MORPHO governs
Morpho's documentation defines MORPHO as the protocol's governance token, using weighted voting in which the number of tokens held determines voting power. Holders vote on changes and improvements, including actions such as approving new LLTV values and interest rate models.
The token has a maximum supply of 1,000,000,000 MORPHO. The documentation publishes a distribution breakdown dated 7 November 2024, showing allocations to Morpho governance, users and launch pools, and the Morpho Association for ecosystem development, among others.[9], [10], [11]
Legacy and wrapped MORPHO
The original MORPHO token was deployed as an immutable contract without onchain vote accounting. Through MIP-75, governance voted to create a wrapper so legacy tokens can be converted 1:1 into wrapped MORPHO, which supports onchain vote tracking and could later follow a cross-chain standard.
To stop legacy tokens being mistakenly used by exchanges and other integrations, the documentation states that only wrapped MORPHO is transferable. Holders of legacy tokens can wrap them in the Morpho App.[12], [13]
Which markets and vaults attract use
Because anyone can create markets and vaults, the set of active markets is decided by users and curators rather than by a central listing process. Which combinations will carry the most activity in future is UNKNOWN from public sources.
Future governance votes on new parameters or token use are not predicted here.[3], [7]
What this means when you hold or move MORPHO
SwapRocket lists MORPHO on Ethereum as an ERC-20 token. Send it only to a wallet that supports ERC-20 tokens on Ethereum, and keep a little ETH there to pay network fees when you move it later.
The transferable token is wrapped MORPHO; legacy MORPHO cannot be sent. Holding MORPHO gives voting power in governance but does not by itself lend or earn anything. Match the network in your quote to your receiving wallet, and keep the transaction ID until the swap completes.
