About Lighter (LIT)
Crypto token
Lighter (LIT) is a crypto token on the ERC20 network. It powers its project's ecosystem — used for things like access, governance, fees, or rewards — and trades freely against other digital assets.
How does LIT work?
Lighter runs as a token on the ERC20 network, which means it benefits from that chain's security and tooling while serving the specific role its project defines — for example governance votes, platform fees, staking, or in-app utility.
What is LIT used for?
Holders use LIT to participate in the Lighter ecosystem and to gain exposure to the project's growth. As with any token, its value is tied to real usage and demand for what the project offers.

How a LIT swap works
Enter the amount you want to exchange, pick the asset on the other side, and SwapRocket queries every connected exchange partner at once. You choose an offer, paste the wallet address that should receive the funds, and send LIT to the deposit address shown. The partner executes the trade and pays out to your address — SwapRocket never holds your coins, and there is no account to create before you start.
Choosing a rate for LIT
Three offers are presented for every LIT exchange. The best rate returns the largest amount for the size you entered. The fastest route favours the partner with the shortest expected settlement time, which matters when the market is moving. The fixed rate locks the quoted amount for the duration of the order, so what you are shown is what arrives, at the cost of a slightly smaller payout. Floating offers can move with the market between deposit and settlement.
Networks and addresses for LIT
Lighter settles on ERC20. Always send from and to an address on that network: a deposit sent over a different chain cannot be recovered by the exchange partner. When an asset exists on several chains, pick the matching network in the widget before copying the deposit address, and send a small test amount first if you are unsure.

Lighter says it proves every order match and liquidation with zero-knowledge cryptography. How does a verifiable exchange work, and what role does the LIT token play in it?
Traders usually have to choose between the speed of a centralized exchange and the transparency of an on-chain one. Lighter's pitch is that it does not have to be a choice: it matches orders off the main chain at high speed, then proves on Ethereum that every match and liquidation followed the published rules. LIT is the token that ties stakers, liquidity and protocol revenue to that system.
What Lighter is
Lighter describes itself as a decentralized trading platform built for security, scale and performance, and says it is the first exchange to offer verifiable order matching and liquidations with performance comparable to traditional exchanges. The platform is reached through app.lighter.xyz and lighter.exchange, and a mobile app has been announced for iOS and Android.
Technically, Lighter is a zero-knowledge rollup on top of Ethereum. Rather than asking users to trust that the operator matched orders fairly, it generates cryptographic proofs of its operations, including order matching and liquidations, and verifies them publicly on Ethereum.[1], [2], [3]
How a verifiable exchange works
The flow shown on Lighter's site runs from incoming transactions into a queue, through a matching engine and a risk engine, to an executor and a batch prover, and finally to Ethereum. The matching engine pairs buyers and sellers; the risk engine checks margin and triggers liquidations; the prover batches those results into a proof using Lighter's custom zero-knowledge circuit.
Because Ethereum is the base layer for proofs and state changes, deposits and withdrawals go through Ethereum. Lighter's claim is that it strictly follows a publicly predefined set of rules, and the proofs are what allow anyone to check that it did.
The project says the infrastructure is engineered to handle tens of thousands of orders and cancellations per second with millisecond latency, and that the efficiency of matching and proving is what allows zero fees for retail traders and low fees for high-frequency traders.
The documentation covers the trading details a user would expect from a derivatives venue: order types and matching, unified trading accounts, multi-asset margin, funding, fair-price marking, self-trade prevention, liquidations and an insurance fund called the Lighter Liquidity Pool.[4], [5], [6], [7]
What LIT does
Lighter's documentation calls LIT the Lighter Infrastructure Token and describes it as the native token supporting access, incentives and alignment across the ecosystem. It has three documented roles.
First, staking. Participants can stake LIT in a staking pool, with a three-day lockup when unstaking. Second, access: the Lighter Liquidity Pool is now open only to LIT stakers, and the amount a participant may deposit into it is tied to how much LIT they have staked. Third, buybacks: the protocol uses trading-fee revenue to buy LIT back through daily time-weighted purchases.
The documentation also says stakers currently receive staking rewards. The current reward rate is published on Lighter's own page rather than repeated here, because it can change.[8], [9], [10], [11]
The open trade-off
Zero retail fees are a strong draw, but they mean protocol revenue, and therefore buybacks, depend on professional and high-frequency trading volume. How durable that balance is over a full market cycle is UNKNOWN from the official sources reviewed.
Zero-knowledge proofs verify that the rules were followed; they do not remove market risk, liquidation risk on leveraged positions, or the smart-contract risk that any rollup carries. Lighter publishes security audits and a vulnerability disclosure policy, which are the right documents to read for that side of the picture.[6], [12]
What this means if you swap LIT
SwapRocket lists LIT as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum. Make sure your receiving wallet supports Ethereum tokens and that you are using the correct network when you paste an address.
If you intend to stake LIT on Lighter, remember that unstaking has a lockup period, so tokens you stake are not instantly available to swap back.
Only use the official Lighter domains listed in its documentation, compare the amount you will receive before confirming a swap, and send a small test amount to any new address first.

LIT swap FAQ
How do I swap Lighter (LIT) instantly on SwapRocket?
Pick LIT as the asset you want to receive, choose what you're paying with, paste your wallet address, and confirm. SwapRocket hands your order to the provider whose quote pays out the most at that moment, and most swaps complete in under 10 minutes — no SwapRocket account needed.
Can I swap LIT with no KYC?
No SwapRocket account or identity documents are needed to start a crypto-to-crypto swap of LIT. The provider that executes the swap may still request identity verification or hold a swap for review under its own AML and sanctions policy, regardless of amount. Selling to a bank account goes through a regulated payment partner that verifies the payer; card purchases on SwapRocket are coming soon.
Is swapping Lighter on SwapRocket non-custodial?
Yes. SwapRocket never holds your funds. The provider that executes the swap receives your deposit, holds it only for the duration of the swap, and sends LIT to the wallet address you provide.
Which network does LIT use here?
SwapRocket supports Lighter on the ERC20 network. Always double-check that your receiving wallet supports this network before confirming.
What fees apply when I swap LIT?
SwapRocket adds no fee or markup to the provider's quote and may earn a commission from the provider on a completed swap. The provider's spread and any network cost it deducts on delivery are already reflected in the LIT amount shown; the network fee your own wallet charges to send the deposit is separate. Spreads vary by provider, pair and size, so compare the quoted receive amount.
