About KuCoin Token (KCS)

Crypto token

KuCoin Token (KCS) is a crypto token on the ERC20 network. It powers its project's ecosystem — used for things like access, governance, fees, or rewards — and trades freely against other digital assets.

How does KCS work?

KuCoin Token runs as a token on the ERC20 network, which means it benefits from that chain's security and tooling while serving the specific role its project defines — for example governance votes, platform fees, staking, or in-app utility.

What is KCS used for?

Holders use KCS to participate in the KuCoin Token ecosystem and to gain exposure to the project's growth. As with any token, its value is tied to real usage and demand for what the project offers.

How a KCS swap works

Enter the amount you want to exchange, pick the asset on the other side, and SwapRocket queries every connected exchange partner at once. You choose an offer, paste the wallet address that should receive the funds, and send KCS to the deposit address shown. The partner executes the trade and pays out to your address — SwapRocket never holds your coins, and there is no account to create before you start.

Choosing a rate for KCS

Three offers are presented for every KCS exchange. The best rate returns the largest amount for the size you entered. The fastest route favours the partner with the shortest expected settlement time, which matters when the market is moving. The fixed rate locks the quoted amount for the duration of the order, so what you are shown is what arrives, at the cost of a slightly smaller payout. Floating offers can move with the market between deposit and settlement.

Networks and addresses for KCS

KuCoin Token settles on ERC20. Always send from and to an address on that network: a deposit sent over a different chain cannot be recovered by the exchange partner. When an asset exists on several chains, pick the matching network in the widget before copying the deposit address, and send a small test amount first if you are unsure.

KuCoin Token started as an exchange coin and now also runs its own blockchain. How do its loyalty perks, its revenue-linked burn toward a 100 million supply, and the KuCoin Community Chain fit together?

KuCoin Token (KCS) is the native coin of the KuCoin ecosystem. On the exchange it unlocks tiered benefits for holders who stake it; on the KuCoin Community Chain (KCC) it pays for gas; and a monthly buyback-and-burn is steadily shrinking its supply from 200 million toward a final 100 million. This profile explains the design using KuCoin's official KCS page and the KCS Foundation whitepaper.

From ERC-20 coin to a chain of its own

The KCS whitepaper records that KuCoin Token was first issued on Ethereum as an ERC-20 token in 2017, and that it migrated to the KuCoin Community Chain in 2021. Today it exists in both places: as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum and as the native coin of KCC.

That history explains why wallets and exchanges can list more than one version of KCS. The coin is the same asset; the network it travels on is what differs.[1], [2]

A fixed cap and a shrinking supply

KuCoin describes KCS as a deflationary asset with an initial supply cap of 200 million tokens, and the whitepaper states plainly that there will never be an overissue. The long-run target is lower: through continuous burning, supply is set to stabilise at 100 million.

The burn is funded from the secondary market. KuCoin's official page explains that KCS is bought back and burned every month, and that the amount burned is calculated from KuCoin's overall monthly revenue. That links the pace of the burn directly to how much the exchange earns.[3], [4], [5]

Loyalty levels on the exchange

On KuCoin, KCS works as a loyalty key. Staking at least 1 KCS lifts an account to the first loyalty level, K1, and the official page explains that the more KCS a user stakes relative to their total assets, the higher the level and the better the benefits.

The benefits listed on that page include trading fee discounts, discounts on new-token launches, bonuses on GemPool lock-ups, extra rewards on Earn products and rebates on withdrawal fees. Holders who stake through the platform do not need an on-chain wallet or pay gas themselves; the KuCoin Earn team handles staking on-chain and distributes earnings collectively.[6], [7], [8]

A say in what gets listed

KCS also feeds into community features. KuCoin's page describes GemVote tickets that long-term holders receive to vote for projects they would like to see listed, and BurningDrop events in which KCS is used to take part in new-coin staking, with burned KCS speeding up the mining.

These features give holders a reason to keep KCS in the ecosystem rather than treating it only as a discount voucher.[9], [10]

Gas on the KuCoin Community Chain

The whitepaper describes KCC as a blockchain started by core members of the KCS and KuCoin developer community. KCC 1.0 is built on Ethereum's source code and is compatible with EVM smart contracts, and its mainnet launched on June 16, 2021.

On KCC, KCS is the native coin and serves as gas for the base layer. The whitepaper sets out a staged roadmap, KCC 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0, moving from EVM compatibility toward higher throughput and cross-chain support.[11], [12], [2], [13]

Who steers KCS

KuCoin's page names the KCS Foundation as the governing body, made up of the KuCoin core team, the KCC GoDAO Foundation, investment institutions and community representatives who hold KCS. Its job is to decide on the future development of KCS and support the ecosystem.

The whitepaper describes this as an early-stage arrangement, with the stated aim of gradually moving power from the Foundation toward more community-based protocols and tools over time.[14], [15]

When the 100 million target is reached

KuCoin and the whitepaper both set a final supply of 100 million KCS, and the burn size depends on KuCoin's monthly revenue. Because future revenue cannot be known in advance, the date at which supply reaches 100 million is UNKNOWN from public sources.

It is not predicted here.[4], [5]

What this means when you hold or move KCS

SwapRocket lists KCS on Ethereum as an ERC-20 token. Send it only to a wallet that supports ERC-20 tokens on Ethereum, not to a KCC address, and keep a little ETH in that wallet to pay network fees when you move it later.

The loyalty perks described above apply to KCS held and staked on KuCoin itself; KCS in your own wallet does not earn them automatically. Match the network in your quote to the receiving wallet, and keep the transaction ID until the swap completes.
