About Story (IP)

Crypto token

Story (IP) is a crypto token on the Story network. It powers its project's ecosystem — used for things like access, governance, fees, or rewards — and trades freely against other digital assets.

How does IP work?

Story runs as a token on the Story network, which means it benefits from that chain's security and tooling while serving the specific role its project defines — for example governance votes, platform fees, staking, or in-app utility.

What is IP used for?

Holders use IP to participate in the Story ecosystem and to gain exposure to the project's growth. As with any token, its value is tied to real usage and demand for what the project offers.

How a IP swap works

Enter the amount you want to exchange, pick the asset on the other side, and SwapRocket queries every connected exchange partner at once. You choose an offer, paste the wallet address that should receive the funds, and send IP to the deposit address shown. The partner executes the trade and pays out to your address — SwapRocket never holds your coins, and there is no account to create before you start.

Choosing a rate for IP

Three offers are presented for every IP exchange. The best rate returns the largest amount for the size you entered. The fastest route favours the partner with the shortest expected settlement time, which matters when the market is moving. The fixed rate locks the quoted amount for the duration of the order, so what you are shown is what arrives, at the cost of a slightly smaller payout. Floating offers can move with the market between deposit and settlement.

Networks and addresses for IP

Story settles on Story. Always send from and to an address on that network: a deposit sent over a different chain cannot be recovered by the exchange partner. When an asset exists on several chains, pick the matching network in the widget before copying the deposit address, and send a small test amount first if you are unsure.

Creative work — images, songs, AI training data — moves around the internet with no reliable way to prove who made it or get paid when it is reused. Story wants to make intellectual property programmable. How does that work, and where does IP fit?

Story is a purpose-built layer 1 blockchain designed specifically for intellectual property. Creators register IP as on-chain IP Assets, attach usage terms, and let smart contracts handle licensing, royalties and disputes. IP is the network's native token, used for gas and staking. This profile uses Story's official documentation.

The problem it set out to solve

Story's documentation introduces it as the world's IP blockchain: a purpose-built layer 1 designed specifically for intellectual property. The idea is that IP of any kind — an image, a song, a real-world asset, AI training data — can be registered on the blockchain with usage terms attached.

Those terms are rules like 'you owe me 50% of your commercial revenue if you use my IP' or 'you cannot create derivatives of my IP'. By making IP programmable, the documentation argues, it becomes traceable and enforceable in a way the informal internet never allowed.[1], [2]

A chain built for IP graphs

Story Network combines an EVM-compatible execution layer with a consensus layer based on the mature CometBFT stack, aiming for fast finality and cheap transactions. The documentation says the execution layer is optimised for graph data structures, because IP relationships — originals, derivatives, revenue shares — form graphs.

It does this with precompiled primitives that can traverse complex IP graphs within seconds at marginal cost. That is a deliberate design choice: licensing one derivative can trigger payments up a whole family tree of parent works, and the chain is built to make that cheap.[3], [4]

IP Assets and the Proof-of-Creativity protocol

The Proof-of-Creativity protocol is the set of smart contracts, natively deployed on Story Network, that lets anyone bring IP onto Story. A creator registers IP as an IP Asset, which is made of two parts: an on-chain NFT (an existing one like an Azuki, or a new NFT minted to represent off-chain IP) and an associated IP Account, a modified ERC-6551 token-bound account.

Registration goes through the IP Asset Registry, whose register function takes a chain ID, an NFT contract address and a token ID, and deploys a dedicated IP Account for each new IP Asset. Around the registry sit modules defining the logic for licensing, royalties, disputes and metadata.[5], [6], [7]

Licensing, royalties and disputes

Once an IP Asset has license terms attached, anyone can mint a License Token — itself an ERC-721 — that either grants the holder usage rights or links another IP Asset as a derivative. Terms can include a minting fee and a commercial revenue share, so a derivative earning 100 units can automatically route a percentage upstream to its ancestors through the Royalty Module.

Disputes are handled by a dedicated Dispute Module, and the documentation describes an attestation approach where infringement-detection providers review registered IP and flag violations. Notably, the on-chain terms are paired with an off-chain legal contract, the Programmable IP License (PIL), which maps the blockchain rules into the legal system so tokenized IP can be enforced off-chain.[8], [9], [10]

Where IP fits

IP is the native token of Story Network. The documentation's staking module explains that the gas token lives on the execution layer to pay for transactions and interact with smart contracts, while the consensus layer manages staking, slashing and rewards — so IP is both the fee token and the staking asset behind the validators.

Inside the protocol's economy, a wrapped version (WIP) serves as a whitelisted revenue token: royalty and license payments between IP Assets are denominated in whitelisted tokens such as WIP, and the tooling can wrap and unwrap IP automatically when claiming revenue.[11], [12], [13]

How much IP actually moves on-chain

Story's documentation lays out the machinery, but the volume of registered IP, license activity and royalty flows on mainnet is not quantified on the official pages reviewed. That adoption picture is UNKNOWN from official sources.

It is not predicted here.[1]

What this means when you hold or move IP

IP lives on Story's own mainnet (chain ID 1514), not on Ethereum, so check that your receiving wallet or service supports the Story network before confirming. The documentation's quickstart walks through adding Story mainnet to a wallet.

Registering IP, minting licenses and staking all happen through Story's own tools and SDKs, not through a swap, and all are optional. Keep your transaction ID until delivery so you can trace it on the Story explorer.

Fees and pricing

Zero added fees: SwapRocket does not add a platform fee, a minimum or a withdrawal charge — the rate you see is the rate you get. Blockchain network fees are shown in full before you confirm, and the final amount you receive is quoted up front.

SwapRocket does not add a separate fee or markup to the provider quote. SwapRocket may earn a commission from the liquidity provider when a completed swap is referred through our platform. Provider spreads and applicable network costs are reflected in the quoted amount.

Network fees are set by the blockchain, not by SwapRocket. No account, no subscription and no withdrawal charge. Live support is available 24/7.

IP swap FAQ

How do I swap Story (IP) instantly on SwapRocket?

Pick IP as the asset you want to receive, choose what you're paying with, paste your wallet address, and confirm. SwapRocket hands your order to the provider whose quote pays out the most at that moment, and most swaps complete in under 10 minutes — no SwapRocket account needed.

Can I swap IP with no KYC?

No SwapRocket account or identity documents are needed to start a crypto-to-crypto swap of IP. The provider that executes the swap may still request identity verification or hold a swap for review under its own AML and sanctions policy, regardless of amount. Selling to a bank account goes through a regulated payment partner that verifies the payer; card purchases on SwapRocket are coming soon.

Is swapping Story on SwapRocket non-custodial?

Yes. SwapRocket never holds your funds. The provider that executes the swap receives your deposit, holds it only for the duration of the swap, and sends IP to the wallet address you provide.

Which network does IP use here?

SwapRocket supports Story on the Story network. Always double-check that your receiving wallet supports this network before confirming.

What fees apply when I swap IP?

SwapRocket adds no fee or markup to the provider's quote and may earn a commission from the provider on a completed swap. The provider's spread and any network cost it deducts on delivery are already reflected in the IP amount shown; the network fee your own wallet charges to send the deposit is separate. Spreads vary by provider, pair and size, so compare the quoted receive amount.
