About ETHGas (GWEI)

Crypto token

ETHGas (GWEI) is a crypto token on the ERC20 network. It powers its project's ecosystem — used for things like access, governance, fees, or rewards — and trades freely against other digital assets.

How does GWEI work?

ETHGas runs as a token on the ERC20 network, which means it benefits from that chain's security and tooling while serving the specific role its project defines — for example governance votes, platform fees, staking, or in-app utility.

What is GWEI used for?

Holders use GWEI to participate in the ETHGas ecosystem and to gain exposure to the project's growth. As with any token, its value is tied to real usage and demand for what the project offers.

How a GWEI swap works

Enter the amount you want to exchange, pick the asset on the other side, and SwapRocket queries every connected exchange partner at once. You choose an offer, paste the wallet address that should receive the funds, and send GWEI to the deposit address shown. The partner executes the trade and pays out to your address — SwapRocket never holds your coins, and there is no account to create before you start.

Choosing a rate for GWEI

Three offers are presented for every GWEI exchange. The best rate returns the largest amount for the size you entered. The fastest route favours the partner with the shortest expected settlement time, which matters when the market is moving. The fixed rate locks the quoted amount for the duration of the order, so what you are shown is what arrives, at the cost of a slightly smaller payout. Floating offers can move with the market between deposit and settlement.

Networks and addresses for GWEI

ETHGas settles on ERC20. Always send from and to an address on that network: a deposit sent over a different chain cannot be recovered by the exchange partner. When an asset exists on several chains, pick the matching network in the widget before copying the deposit address, and send a small test amount first if you are unsure.

Ethereum gas is usually treated as an annoying bill. What changes if blockspace itself becomes a market that can be reserved before a transaction is sent?

ETHGas starts from an unusually concrete frustration: Ethereum may settle valuable transactions, but users still wait for blocks and guess what inclusion will cost. Since November 2024, the project says it has been turning future blockspace into something validators can sell and traders, wallets or agents can reserve. GWEI sits around that experiment. Its name borrows Ethereum's familiar gas denomination, yet the larger idea is not another fee token. It is an attempt to make the timing and price of Ethereum execution behave more like a planned service than a surprise auction.

The product is a promise about a future block

Most people meet Ethereum blockspace only at the last moment. A wallet estimates gas, broadcasts a transaction and waits. ETHGas asks validators to sell commitments earlier. A whole-block commitment reserves a validator's future block; an inclusion preconfirmation promises that a qualifying transaction will be included. In each case, an uncertain event becomes a contract someone can price.

The project frames this as a two-sided market. Validators can exchange unpredictable future revenue for contracted income, while traders and applications can buy greater certainty. That is a more revealing origin than a generic claim about speed: ETHGas is trying to reorganise who bears uncertainty before Ethereum's consensus layer finally settles the result.[1], [2], [3], [4]

Twelve seconds sliced into much smaller moments

ETHGas's most memorable image is a normal Ethereum slot divided into roughly one hundred sub-blocks. Participating operators issue rapid preconfirmations between canonical blocks, giving applications an early, economically backed indication of ordering or inclusion. The underlying Ethereum block still matters; the preconfirmation is an additional service rather than a replacement chain.

This could be especially useful where twelve seconds feels long: automated agents, trading systems, games and checkout experiences. A wallet could reserve capacity before presenting a user with a final action. A trading system could reduce uncertainty about whether an order arrives in time. The project calls this realtime Ethereum, though users should understand that fast assurance and final protocol settlement are not identical things.[5], [6], [7]

An obscure market hidden inside every transaction

Block builders and validators have always made decisions about limited space, but ordinary users rarely see that market directly. ETHGas makes the hidden commodity explicit. Whole blocks, slices of capacity and inclusion rights can be offered to different participants. That is the obscure fact at the centre of GWEI: the project is not primarily selling cheaper computation; it is packaging a validator's future opportunity to order computation.

The design also aims at institutions that need known counterparties, policy controls and predictable settlement. Those requirements sit awkwardly beside Ethereum's open mempool, so ETHGas proposes an extra coordination layer rather than changing Ethereum itself. The bet is that public settlement can remain open while specialised execution guarantees develop above it.[8], [9], [10]

Where GWEI enters the picture

The ETHGas Foundation presents GWEI as the ecosystem token for governance, incentives and participation around this blockspace market. Open Gas adds a retail-facing idea: qualifying activity can earn rebates, attempting to return part of gas spending to users rather than leaving the entire system visible only to validators and sophisticated traders.

That ambition depends on adoption by operators, wallets and applications. A preconfirmation market is most useful when meaningful future capacity is available and buyers trust the conditions. GWEI can help coordinate participation, but it cannot make a promised inclusion equivalent to Ethereum finality or ensure that every wallet removes gas friction.[11], [12], [13]

What the official sources do not say

UNKNOWN from official sources: the reviewed pages do not establish a durable percentage of Ethereum validators participating, a guaranteed rebate for every retail transaction or a fixed schedule of future GWEI governance decisions.

Several performance figures on the project site are project-reported. They describe ETHGas's systems and partnerships, not Ethereum-wide service guarantees.[13], [12]

What this means when you hold or move GWEI

GWEI is listed by SwapRocket as an ERC-20 token. Confirm the official contract and Ethereum network before sending, and retain enough ETH for the network fee.

Do not confuse the GWEI token with gwei, the unit wallets commonly use to quote Ethereum gas prices. A balance or fee displayed in lowercase gwei is not necessarily this asset.

Can I swap GWEI with no KYC?

No SwapRocket account or identity documents are needed to start a crypto-to-crypto swap of GWEI. The provider that executes the swap may still request identity verification or hold a swap for review under its own AML and sanctions policy, regardless of amount. Is swapping ETHGas on SwapRocket non-custodial?

Yes. SwapRocket never holds your funds. The provider that executes the swap receives your deposit, holds it only for the duration of the swap, and sends GWEI to the wallet address you provide.

Which network does GWEI use here?

SwapRocket supports ETHGas on the ERC20 network. Always double-check that your receiving wallet supports this network before confirming.

What fees apply when I swap GWEI?

SwapRocket adds no fee or markup to the provider's quote and may earn a commission from the provider on a completed swap. The provider's spread and any network cost it deducts on delivery are already reflected in the GWEI amount shown; the network fee your own wallet charges to send the deposit is separate. Spreads vary by provider, pair and size, so compare the quoted receive amount.
